At the culmination of the inaugural Youth Arts Professionals Institute, Youth Arts Fellow Susie Tanner presents her ideas for a youth program.

Youth Arts Professionals Institute is a program designed especially for artists with a passion for involving young people in the creative process. YAPI brings artists together to examine their practice as both teachers and artists, encouraging a sharing and exchange of successful methods. Participating artists receive 80 hours of training, including instructional workshops, mentoring, practicum experiences in the field with youth arts organizations, and ongoing support for youth arts professionals. Participants gain skills in conflict resolution and community building as well as in designing and leading workshops. Past YAPI sessions attracted a diverse group of artists, some with decades of experience in the field and some young, dynamic professionals early in their careers. Many YAPI graduates are invited to serve as Will Power to Youth facilitators.
